:      Atlantis has sent their Armada against the surface world led by Seth, they attack the sub that dropped the fateful depth-charges that wrecked much of the city.  Namor attempts to stop them, but he is still considered a traitor [TtA1 #97].  He faces Seth in the flagship, and the Hurricane Inducer is damaged in the fight.  The crew abandons ship, but Namor steers it away from his people before the Inducer explodes.  The attack is thwarted, but Namor thinks he'll be  considered a traitor now more than ever, at story end but is actually thought to have perished in the explosion.  In Hulk's featureLegion of the Living Lightning app.  Hulk tries to escape LotLL but is knocked out by their lightning guns. Talbot escapes and calls in reinforcements. The LotLL is driven from Gamma Base, Talbot blames Banner, so Banner becomes the Hulk and goes after them.  Hulk destroys the Legion of the Living Lightning base, which was about to launch a missile assault on Gamma, and is buried in the resultant explosion and presumed dead at the end of the story.  Death of the Lord of the Living Lightning.

Jameson and Capt. Stacy his problem and gets driven off by Gwen who also thinks he's involved in Peter's absence.  Ka-Zar hunts Spidey down, catches him in JJJ's office, who had nearly convinced Spidey to reveal his ID.  The ensuing fight, which also involves Zabu, carries into Central park, where Spidey ends up in the lake.  At story end, Ka-Zar rescues him but he is assumed drowned.

:    Thor, still without his Thundergod powers, battles the Wrecker, who has just been made immortal by the Norn Queen, and is getting his butt kicked.  Sif and Balder want to help, and go to petition Odin, but Loki removes the mystic viewing crystal and escapes to the Forest of the Norns.  Odin sends Balder and Sif to find Loki.  Thor, although losing, is not backing down, until at story end, the wrecker drops a whole building on him.  In OotI:  Blackbolt's origin continues.  Agon releasing BB on his nineteenth birthday from the soundproof chamber he's been in since a child.  His cousins are there to greet him, and he meets 8 yr. old Crystal for the first time.  Maximus is there, too, and he tries to goad BB into speaking using a nerve beam.  The others defend their soon to be leader, and, at story end, it fully strikes BB that he'll have to remain silent for the rest of his life.

:    Team spirit is low after Reed and Sue left the team last issue, until they get a visit from the Watcher who warns them of the coming danger.  SS, sick of man's inhumanity to man, decides to go on a rampage  to unite the people of Earth against him.  While the team is fighting the SS, Watcher locates Reed and Sue, sends Reed to help the team.  Fredericks ordered to use the Sonic Shark (probably an up-grade of the Anti-Cosmic Flying Wing from issue 60) against the Surfer.  Reed Richards returns to the Fantastic Four.  Team saves SS from the Shark, but before it explodes in the atmosphere, it drains away most of his Cosmic Energy.  No longer invincible, SS sees the error of his ways at story end.

Ka-Zar saves Banner from the Swamp Men, who in turn accompanies him on his quest to solve the mystery of the Glowing Cave.  It turns out to be the Doomsday Machine, and, before Banner can deactivate it, the Swamp Men attack for revenge.  Banner becomes the Hulk and drives them off, but at story end he has completely forgotten the machine and takes his frustration out on Ka-Zar.

SHIELD investigates only to discover one of their own is a sleeper agent.  But Randall's loyalty to his country overrides that of his birth race, and he smashes their space craft into the approaching planetoid.  Cover by Jim Steranko.

:    1st app. of the Aakons.  1st app. of the Organization.  A crippled Aakon trading vessel lands on the Moon to affect repairs, but it is spotted by the Kree, who attack without provocation.  Yon-Rogg orders atomic weapons to be used, but he is wounded before his order can be carried out; and CM ends up carrying him back to the Hala, after killing the Aakon commander.  Tir-Zann is placed in command, and CM returns to his mission on Earth.  Investigating the palatial home of his stolen alter-ego, he finds a hidden lab used to build a giant robot of some sort-a lab funded by the Organization who wanted the robot as a foolproof assassin.  CM thwarts Mort and Danny from invading the lab (and they are killed while escaping), informs Danvers of the trouble, and she kisses him, under the eyes of Una and YR.  CM discovers the the killer robot was programmed to kill Dr. Lawson, but he manages to destroy the robot first.  But, at story end, Cyberex is beginning to repair itself and has added CM to its hit list.

:    Story continues from AV #56.  Entering an alternate reality created with Doom's Chrono-square, the present team runs into the original team of Avengers at their HQ.  Cap learns in this reality the Centurion kept Hulk from leaving the team at the end of AV #2, and they took out most of the other villains and heroes, becoming essentially world dictators.  Revealed that Centurion manipulated Wasp and Cap to bring about the new reality.  Old team defeated.  Rift cured by another time trip.  Watcher reveals that Rama-Tut, Kang, and Centurion are the same person and wipes the Avenger's minds of the events in the alternate universe. Dr. Doom, Rama Tut, and Baron Zemo I appear only in flashbacks to earlier issues.  The 3rd story is a 5 page satire of the creation of the main feature, complete with caricatures of Rascally Roy Thomas, Dashin' Donnie Heck, Big John Buscema, and Smilin' Stan Lee. 

FANTASTIC FOUR SPECIAL             6                             price $.25            1968

Reed discovers the radioactive anomaly in Sue's blood cells and that she and her baby could die and that the only thing that can save her is the Cosmic Control Rod.  The team (sans Sue) travel into the Negative Zone and get captured by Annihilus.  Dr. Molinari discovers the anomaly in Sue's blood.  Crystal with Sue in the hospital.  Team goes up against several threats (ie.  a giant boot and sponge) but in the end beat Annihilus and take the Rod.  A sets the Borers on them and strands them in the rocky field drifting into Anti-matter (from FF #51).  Reed does a trade with A.  The team escapes from the NZ with some of the cosmic energy, and A gets the Rod back.  The birth of Franklin is announced, and both Sue and the baby are just fine at story end.
