    "Crisis on Campus!"

COM:    Kingpin first views the 'ancient clay tablet', looking to steal it. Robbie criticizes JJJ for the way he treats Peter. May still sick. Demonstration on ESU campus over the use of the Exhibition Hall. Protestors give Peter grief because he won't demonstrate with them. Kingpin gets away with the tablet. Randy and Josh arrested at story end. Martha Robertson is seen here for the first time, but only in a photo.

    "....Till Death Do Us Part!"

Wasp and YJ are married at Avengers HQ. Sue serves as Jan's bridesmaid. Janet van Dyne becomes Janet Pym. Wasp cuts the cake with a replica of BK III's Ebony Blade. During the fight with Coc, YJ revealed as Hank Pym with amnesia. Wasp reveals she knew who he was from their first kiss in AV #59.    CoC handed over to the police at story end.

    "The Hero that Was!"

COM:    Flashback to 1944 as told by Cap to Fury in a feature length retelling of Cap's origin. Everyone except Cap and Fury seen only in the flashback. 4-F Rogers injected with the Super Soldier Serum and bombarded with Vita-Rays. Reinstein killed by Kruger. Rogers becomes Cap, teams up with Bucky to fight the Nazis.

    "Between Hammer and Anvil!"

COM: Aakons appearance. CM attacked by the Aakons for killing their commander (last issue), and he defeats them, but not before alerting police in the area. Danvers sneaks into Lawson's hotel room snooping, and is captured by Cyberex as bait. Una loosing faith in CM; Yon-Rogg leads the Aakons to CM. CM battles Cyberex to free Danvers, but the Aakons show up and end up fighting and defeating the robot. They then defeat CM and capture his "war code book". Cyberex recovers again and wrecks the Aakon scouts, then CM destroys the robot assassin once and for all. It is revealed that the code book is nothing more than the real Lawson's little black book used to get the robot and scouts to fight. At story end, Yon-Rogg rubs Una's nose in the growing relationship between CM and Danvers.

    "Farewell to Foggy!"

COM:    Inhumans and Alpha Primitives appearance. Sue still in hospital from FF1 An. #6. Crystal needs to get the Inhuman's okay to her joining the FF. Lockjaw arrives at the Baxter Building followed by a bunch of APs. They capture Crystal and return to the Great Refuge, where Maximus has regained control of the throne and has the male members of the royal family in a force field prison. FF follows in their ICBM, and get Zorr sicced on them. The Ff are defeated and the Inhumans are helpless to aid them. At story end, M reveals his master plane involving his new giant Hypno-Gun.

    "Shanghaied in Space!"

COM:    Sagittarians appearance. In space, the Sagittarians become aware of the loss of their Planet Destroyer (Doomsday Machine) and the destruction of it's protector, Umbu (from last ish.) and send a Titan Time-probe to seek out the person who did it. In the Savage land, Ka-Zar trying to revive the recently deceased Banner. His body is stolen and taken into space, and Ka-Zar is unable to follow. Banner is revived and sentenced to death by decompression, but he becomes the Hulk and starts tearing apart their ship. They try to stop him with a fleet of Repulse Spheres, but he destroys them and tries to reenter the ship through the exhaust tube. The ship's port engine is destroyed, and the Warlord sets down on his home planet, where, at story end, the Hulk faces the Galaxy Master.

    "....There Lives a Green Goliath!"

They form a permanent team and head for New New York to find the "Free colony" at story end. In the 2nd feature: a reprint of Golden Age Sub-Mariner by Bill Everett. In the 3rd feature: a reprint of 2nd half of ALL WINNERS COMICS #21 by Otto Binder (continued from last issue), featuring the Golden Age All Winners Squad..

    "Thus Speaks Supremus"

COM: Genius Abboud is mocked and ridiculed for his genetics work and his disease atrophied body, sets up a base in the Cave of Hercules in Cape Spartel, creates a powerful exoskeleton and an army of genetically hybrid creatures, decides to enslave the world using his Zombie Gas, setting up canisters all around the world. Blankets Earth with a heat wave to soften up mankind, and sends assassins out to kill the world leaders, including Nick Fury.   With the help of Ulysses' own sister, Fury finds Supremus, destroys the exoskeleton suit presumably killing its occupant in the process, and, at story end, the base explodes.

    "The Spell of the Serpent"

Erik revealed as Cyke. Bobby arrives, reveals that Mags isn't her father. Lorna turns on Mags and the Demi-Men. The hideout is destroyed, but Mags escapes. At story end, Lorna is with the X-Men back at the apartment in Frisco. In OotX: Beast's origin story continues. C. wants Hank to steal a power supply from a government facility or he will kill his parents. Prof. X still looking for Hank. Hank steals the device, but C. goes back on his word to free his parents at story end. Cover by Marie Severin and Joe Sinnott

    "Mission: Crush the Kingpin!"

Kingpin arrested, tells police he was working with Spidey. Police after Spidey who now has the 'tablet', and threatens to become a bad guy at the story end. Vanessa Fisk mentioned for the first time.

    "Some Say the World Will End in Fire....Some Say in Ice!"

Vision being recharged through the jewel in his forehead. Strange operates on BK III. Team flies to Wakanda. 1st app. of the Avengers Quinjet. Using the Crystals of Conquest, Strange causes Ymir and Surtur to face one another and cancel each other out.

    "No Longer Alone!"

COM:    Rick Jones becomes Cap's official partner, becomes Bucky IV. Hydra appearance. Cap and Rick meet again to stop the Hulk. Rick dons Bucky's old uniform and teams up with Cap. Cap and Bucky run into a nest of Hydra agents who plan to contaminate the city's water supply. Bucky messes up but the plot is smashed. Madame Hydra gets away, but Cap and Bucky are partners at story end.

    "Die, Traitor!"

COM:    Organization appearance. Yon-Rogg has finally got Una to be jealous of CM and Danvers. Ronan orders CM to search out the Organization with an eye toward making them allies. Number One uses the Eon Ray on Number 23 for failing to kill Dr. Lawson. CM and Danvers attacked by Organization thugs, and, while he's dealing with a pterodactyl created by the Eon Ray, they capture her and lure CM into their secret hide out. CM pretends to be chummy with them until he arranges Danvers to escape, then he shows his true hand. Number One turns the Eon Ray on CM, but he captures it, restores himself, and turns it on the bad guys. The Organization and their hide out is destroyed-all seen by Ronan who sentences him to execution as a traitor. Una tries to warn him, but after being knocked unconscious, she is too late. At story end, CM is in front of the firing squad and the order to fire is given.

    "Daredevil Drops Out"

M preparing to be named Emperor Eternal of the Earth, ready to use his giant Hypno-Gun. The Inhumans free themselves (BB uses his voice to destroy their cage) and battle through the APs to get at M. Sue back in NYC trying to name the new baby. FF escape (their cell is an illusion) and wreck Zorr on the way to M. M daydreaming about how he will rule the world, faces both the Ff and the Royal Family. Hypno-Gun is destroyed by Crystal, but he and the EI escape. BB back on the throne. At story end, M and crew escape into space in a hidden rocket.

    "The Brute Battles On!"

COM:    Origin of the Galaxy Master. Hulk on Berhert, the Princess watching his battle with the GM via video screen. As their battle continues, GM revealed to be an alien invader who has enslaved the planet. The Princess sides with the Hulk, and her uncle tries to betray her. GM ensnares the girl, putting a halt to the rebellion, but Hulk follows the tractor beam up and destroys GM. The Warlord falls down a chasm, and the girl is made leader of her people. To thank him, they send Hulk home in a rocket that is unable to support him when he changes back to Banner at story end.

    "Once More...The Mandarin!"

COM:    Filler story. The Team back at the Mansion, testing a Matter Transmuter left behind by Prof. X, end up transporting Blastaar from the Negative Zone (space). Bobby creates animated ice duplicates. After a big fight, Blastaar is dissolved by the Transmuter at story end. First Barry Windsor-Smith comic book art. In OotX: Conclusion of Beast's origin story. Beast tries to thwart C. plan before he can power up his giant Power Transmitters. The new X-Men appear to mop up the mess. C is electrocuted and his Transmitters destroyed. Prof. X erases public memory of Beast's powers, and Beast recruited into the X-Men at story end.

    "Spider-Man Wanted!"

Kingpin breaks out of prison. Vanessa ?, face and name unrevealed, helps him escape from Spidey, with the unwitting help of JJJ.Spidey causes JJJ's collapse at story end. Peter confirmed as a sophomore at ESU in this story.

    "The Monarch and the Man-Ape!"

    "Tomorrow You Live, Tonight I Die!"

COM:    Karen tries to call Matt, but he's still fighting Saxon's Plastoid robot in his gym. Flashbacks to issues 43 and 48. Robot kicks up its power, but DD short circuits it with a fuse box. Foggy installed in his office as DA. Starr meets DD for the 1st time, accidentally programs the robot to go after Biggie instead of DD. DD goes to the prison to stop the robot, gets shot by guards and is struck unconscious by Benson just before the robot crashes through his cell wall at story end. Cover by Gene Colan, John Romita, and Barry Windsor-Smith.

    "...With One Beside Him"

    "The Name is Doom!"

COM:    SHIELD appearance. FF returning from the Great Refuge in one of the Inhuman's Gyro-Ships. They are intercepted by SHIELD fighter planes. In Latveria, Doom personally prevents one of his subjects from escaping. Fury asks the FF to investigate a secret robot army in Europe (they have an arm of one of the Super Robots as proof); and the FF heads for L posing as tourists. Doom's guards attack and capture them. The next morning, they wake up, treated as honored guests, not realizing that Doom has hypnotically removed their powers. At story end, Reed tries to escape, and Doom lets them know that they are permanent guests.

    "Where Falls the Shifting Sands?"

COM:    Hulk returning from Berhert in a rocket, saves himself with a burst of gaseous gamma rays. Sandman looking to contact Blastaar (his recent partner) again if he can find a "Space Warp Ship". Betty out of the hospital and pining over Bruce. Hulk crash lands and encounters the Sandman, who tricks him into helping him attack Gamma Base. While Hulk is smashing the guards, Sandman tries to steal the SW Ship, but in his escape he nearly kills Betty, and the Hulk changes sides. After a brief battle, the Hulk manages to scatter the Sandman to the four winds. Ross approaches the Hulk because he realizes he stopped the Sandman from stealing the Ship, but the Hulk leaps away. At story end, the Sandman is reconstituted and vowing revenge.

    "Unmasked!"

Mandarin escapes, and Hulk is about to permanently smash Sandman, but Betty stops him from killing. Hulk about to leave, but Talbot shows up and they use a neutralizer ray on him. At story end, Hulk is immobilized and he thinks Betty betrayed him.

The FF beat the second wave of robots; Doom sets off the explosives, but Sue saves the village with an invisible force field. At story end, the team is ready to tackle Doom.

In the letter column, Sgt. Michael L. Kuhne suggests the name 'Franklin' for the Richards' new baby boy.

COM:    Hulk still trapped in miniature Living Cage; Leader has launched Gamma Base's missiles against humanity. Betty pleads with Hulk to break free, which after a long struggle he does, but the Leader transports him and the SH to a distant volcanic island. Hulk destroys the SH by dropping him into the active volcano, and leaps back to Gamma Base. Betty convinces Hulk to become Banner to stop the missiles, and he launches a successful counter attack. Hulk attacks leader in his bunker in time to see him launch another missile. Hulk chases it down, diverts it from hitting a city, but is caught in the 20 megaton blast. His mental control fading, Leader destroys his Plasti-thene creations, and bails out of Gamma Base in an escape ship, and, as he speeds away at story end, he catches the body of Dr. Banner plummeting back into the ocean. Skrull reveals his real ID, but stuns Ben with a nerve gun before he can do anything. At story end, the Skrull is preparing to take Ben into space.

Dynorr revealed as the commander of an alien armada that steals water from other planets, and who is trying to kidnap Namor. Strange new tides and violent sub-sea upheavals threaten Atlantis, and, the Imperial council puts Kormok in charge in Namor's absence. At story end, Namor battles Dynorr in old Atlantis and is drawn into space in a Funnel Beam.

COM:    The Thing taken into space by the Slave Master to be sold to Boss Barker for the Great Games on Kral. Barker needs a sure champion to defend his territory against Louie's champion, Torgo. FF worried about the missing Ben, decide to track him down. Thing paraded through the streets of Kral and sold to Barker for ten Power Stones. Origin of Kral. Louie tries to stop Ben and the other slaves from reaching the Training Center. Ben gives the Slave-Keeper lip and gets his first training lesson from Taxtor. Ben gets his butt whipped and tossed in a cell with Torgo. At story end, Reed concludes that Ben has been kidnapped by the Skrulls.

    "On the Side of...the Evil Inhumans!"

COM:    Evil Inhumans appearance. Hulk in Costa Salvador, convinced to side with Maximus against the US army Task Force that has arrived to liberate the people under Maximus' control. While Hulk destroys the troops, the Evil Inhumans fight amongst themselves. Ross, Talbot, and stow-away Betty crash on the island, and Hulk stops Maximus from killing them. M sics his Most Powerful robot on Hulk, but Hulk buries him under M's fortress. M and crew run off, and the military turns on the Hulk. Just as they are about to blast him despite Betty's pleas, M and crew blast off in an escape rocket. Before they can recover, Hulk leaps away at story end.

    "Even Heroes Die!"

    "....To Steal the Surfer's Soul!"

Back to the end of last issue and Karen's reaction to DD revealing his secret ID. They both declare their love for one another openly for the first time. DA Foggy takes Matt on as a Special Assistant in the investigation of Crime-Wave. Matt pops the question to Karen, and she accepts only after he decides to give up being DD. During his farewell speech, he's attacked by Stunt-Master, who is seriously injured during their fight. Revealed that SM was working for Crime-Wave. DD decides not to give up super-heroing. At story end, matt wins the case against Saxon, but Karen isn't speaking to him.

COM:    Thing is a slave of Boss Barker on the Skrull planet, Kral in the Training Center waiting to start the Great Games where he is scheduled to fight Torgo II. Ben faces his first training opponent, Magno-Man. FF still looking for Ben; Reed modifying the Skrull Saucer (FF1 #2) to take them to the Skrull Galaxy, forbids Sue from coming along. Ben beats his second opponent, Rhinogen, then has another run-in with Robberson. The Games are commencing and all the territory leaders converging on the arena. Louie makes another attempt on Barker. Ben tries to reason with Torgo, but it leads to exchanged blows. The slaves are herded into the arena like cattle. Ben still talking insurrection, but he learns that any uprising would lead to the destruction of that slave's home planet. At story end, Ben waiting for his match against the unbeaten Torgo as the FF roar into space to save him.

    "Within the Swamp, There Stirs....a Glob!"

COM:    Origin of the Glob. Hulk reaches Florida from Costa Salvador only to run afoul of a missile test and is caught in an A-blast, which hurts his leg. Ross and crew are contacted, and he send to the Cape for special new equipment. Hulk runs across a radioactive waste dump in the Everglades and wrecks it, spilling some of the waste in the swamp where a dead body lies, creating the Glob. While Ross is engaging Hulk with new hovercraft tanks, Glob mistakes Betty for his dead wife and kidnaps her back to the swamp. Ross, defeated easily by Hulk at night, withdraws, but pours a new anti-radiation fluid in the swamp to destroy Hulk. Hulk and Glob fight, both thinking they're protecting Betty from the other, and the Glob wins because of Hulk's hurt leg, but gets dissolved when he enters the treated swamp water. Hulk returns Betty unharmed and is allowed to leave, despite Talbot's protests, and, at the story end, Hulk can't help but feel a loss for what he perceives as a kindred spirit. Stan Lee retires to just editing the title.

    "What Price Life?"

Subby on a beach in Coney Island (where Triton left him last ish.), reacts badly to the locals, realizes he can no longer fly or breathe under water. Stalker seen only in flashback. Sting-Ray captures Namor; government agents take control, want Namor to answer questions about the Stalker affair (last two issues). Diane and Sting-Ray chafing about an unscheduled press conference where Namor is displayed like a lab animal. Subby escapes from the military. Triton, with Neptune's Trident, charged by Namor to find Atlantis. Subby battles Sting-Ray again. The fight damages the Brooklyn Bridge. Namor stops to reinforce the damaged support. At story end, seeing the nobility in his opponent, Sting-Ray vows to no longer hound the incapacitated Subby.

    "The Thunder God and the Thermal Man"

COM:    Warrior's Three appearance. The Communist Chinese Atomic Experimental Center creates a super robot as a weapon against the west. After it tears up their lab, they send it in a missile to US soil, where it goes on a rampage. Balder and the Warriors Three try to stop it and are joined by Thor, but to no avail. No matter what they do, it reactivates itself. Karnilla, fearing for her love's safety, draws Balder and the Warriors Three away from the battlefield. Thor finally leads the robot to the harbor, creates a typhoon which carries the monster to the Antarctic where it freezes in ice at story end. Cover by John Romita and John Verpoorten.

    "Strangers in a Savage Land"

BK travels to the 41st century to rescue the Avengers. Kang chooses the power of death for the Avengers over the power of life for Ravonna. Kang defeated by BK, who is made a member by story end.   Game Master departs, but sends the team back to their HQ in the 20th century.

Reiterated that the slaves must fight or their home planets will be destroyed. Thing and Torgo pitted against each other. FF catch up with the Slave Master and question him. Weapons are added to the Games combat. Ben gets Torgo down but doesn't finish him, then Torgo gets the better of him. FF take over Barker's HQ. Torgo refuses to kill Ben, and, just as they are about to destroy his planet,, the Ff intervene. Torgo leads the other slaves in a revolt against their masters. At story end, Ben says his goodbyes to Torgo and leaves for Earth with the rest of the team.

    "The Hulk's Last Fight!"

COM:    Fantastic Four appearance. Hulk in the south looking for a place to be free, mistakes a train for a military transport and destroys it.   Mr. Fantastic luring Banner to NYC with a headline that he's created a serum to cure the Hulk, clears the way with the police, but Andrews missed the briefing.   Banner hops a train east and writes down his thoughts on some possible formulas to help the FF. Banner reaches the Baxter Building, but is stopped by the guard who has replaced Andrews, and in the scuffle he becomes the Hulk. Hulk battles the FF, and during the fight Invisible Girl finds the pouch with the formulas. Team can't stop him, but Mr. Fantastic feeds both his formulas and Banner's into a sonic blaster, and at story end, it knocks the Hulk out in the street below.

    "Who Serves Lucifer?"
