Rick rejects Cap's offer to return as his partner.

:    Fantastic Four appearance.  1st app. of the Murder Module (Tripodal Observation Module).  FF have captured the Hulk with the intent to cure him of his uncontrolled transformations.  But their combined formulas don't end up curing him. they allow him become the Hulk at will but with Banner's brain still.  Betty rushes to meet him, but Ross is not convinced that the menace is over and shows Talbot T.O.M.   Ross asks Banner to safeguard the new MM, but the Leader steals it in transit, uses it against the Hulk.  Hulk loses control, tackles the MM, and nearly kills the Leader.  Realizing what he's about to do, he drops the Leader (who gets away) and swears never to become the Hulk again.

COM:    The military and police are still hunting Namor in Manhattan.  Dorma and Vashti decide to rescue him even if it means declaring war.  Seth ends his exile (from FF1 An. #4) and returns to Atlantis with the Proteus Horn and is made co-commander of the attack force.  Namor seeks the aid of Diane, but the police have a wiretap on her phone.  The Atlantean fleet shows up; Dorma's ship is hit.  Namor arrives and prevents further carnage, but Seth, thinking Dorma dead, blows the Horn and summons three giant turtle monsters.  Namor rescues Dorma, but can't stop the monsters.  Seth, sees the error of his ways and draws the monsters away with the Horn and is killed in the process at story end.

COM:    Karen trying to get a part in Ralston's new movie in Hollywood, but doesn't think much of his ideology.  Vice President visiting NYC; lots of protestors outside the New York Hilton.  Karen calls Matt, misses him but not ready to come home yet.  Ralston comes out of the closet as the Tribune, kills a draft dodger.  Several bombings around the Hilton, revealed that Tribune's henchmen are to blame.  DD gets caught in one of the blasts, and the youth that tries to help him is accused of the bombing, along with two other bystanders {The New York Three}. Tribune decides to come east to tend to them personally, and, at story end, Foggy tells Matt that he doesn't believe the boys did it, but as DA he's forced to prosecute.  Cover by Herb Trimpe, Joe Sinnott, Marie Severin, and the Bullpen.

Ffoulkes.  Before Tony can rebut, the Smashers turn the rally into a riot, which IM and O'Brian rout.  Kathy giving Kevin grief for working at SI.  Smashers regroup and prepare for another attack.  Tony recruits O'Brian for the Long Island plant, Kathy not pleased.  Bowers dodging Stark's questions about why the plant construction is so far behind.  Smashers attack again and plant a bomb on the factory reactor, kidnap O'Brian.  IM rescues him, forces Brogan to disarm the bomb, and uncovers Bowers as the Smashers boss, revealing that he'd been embezzling from SI.  At story end, the Ffoulkes learn the error of their ways and the Smashers are taken into custody.  Cover by Sal Buscema.

COM:    Loki has been banished for his misdeeds in issues #179-81.  Thor learns of Doom's kidnapping the professor and was holding Cosette hostage to force him to build nuclear missiles.  Blake places a phony plastic surgery article to lure Doom to NYC.  Odin wishes to speak to Thor about the "World Beyond", but allows him to deal with Doom first.  Doom captures Blake and returns with him to Latveria, and soon the jug is up.  Thor escapes the dungeon, and at story end, must choose to either be blown up himself by a missile or let a nearby village get it.

COM:    Origin of the Petrified Man (drank liquid at the Sun-god temple that made him immortal and turned his skin to stone).  Garokk seeks out Ka-Zar's help in NYC,  Zaladane inciting her people to conquest.  Ka-Zar and PM return to the Savage Land in time to see Zaladane and her people headed for the kingdom of the Lizard Men.  In Doom's feature:  The people of Latveria are revolting against Doom to put Rudolfo on the throne.  FO revealed to be an alien, turns Doom's castle weapons against him. Doom teleports from the castle just as the revolutionaries gain control, destroys the whole structure, sending Rudolfo into exile. In a hidden complex, unable to wrest complete control over the Doomsman, doom teleports him to another dimension.

COM:    Thor still in Latveria trying to rescue Prof. Lefarge.  Escapes on of Lefarge's missiles, but loss Mjolnir.  Doom can't lift the hammer, and uses his Silent Stalker to hunt Blake down.  Sif and Balder plead with Odin to help his son, but Odin believes in his abilities as Thor or Blake.  Blake recovers Mjolnir, and he and Doom duke it out.  Doom uses his Electro-Paralyzer, but Thor breaks free and destroys all of Doom's new missiles.  Odin getting tired of waiting for Thor to finish so he can talk to him about the "World Beyond".  Thor tries to rescue LeFarge, but he pulls a gun and reveals that he was helping Doom for the money.  He is killed by one of his own ricochets.  Thor races back to the US, blowing off the fight with Doom, gives Cosette a version of the story so she would still think well of her father.  At story end, Thor flying off toward Asgard.  Cover by John Buscema and John Verpoorten.
