Lockjaw grabs Ben in the fight (see second feature), and Diablo tarts to lose control of his potions and the situation.  Crys wakes up, and in a struggle with Diablo, Robles is killed when Diablo's lab and the temple explode.  At story end, Lockjaw returns with Ben, and Cryst tells Johnny she has to rejoin her family.  In the second feature:  Lockjaw teleports he and Ben to Earth-A, and Thing encounters several robots with Reed's face that were all built by the Thing of that world.  He sees the local Ben and Sue as well, and gets a brief origin, which is very similar to his won.  At story end, he learns that this recluse Thing is really their Reed Richards just before Lockjaw teleports him back to Terra Verde.  John Buscema, John Verpoorten, John Romita cover.

COM:    Story continues from MFT #3 in May '72.  Undying Ones appearance.  Namor falls out of the sky in NJ at Hulk's feet and, finding him unconscious in a mystical barrier, he goes to seek the help of  Strange.  While trying to solve the mystery, Necrodamus appears and fills them in how he's working for he Nameless One and looking to mete out their revenge for past encounters (DrST1 #183, SUB #22, and IH #126), giving them one hour (when the stars properly align) before he does the deed on Namor.  Strange tries to slow down time to give them more leeway and accidentally speeds up the atomic clock governing Omegatron (from MFT #1).  Strange and Hulk hunt the villain down, going through his guard dog to get inside, and they arrive in time to see him gain the power promised by the Nameless One.  Hulk takes him on and gets changed back to Banner by a mystical knife, while Strange manages to free Namor.  They manage to prevent N from making the sacrifice at the right time, and he reverts to his old form and fades away with a curse on his lips.  At story end, as the heroes recover, it is revealed that Namor had been pitched from the sky by the Silver Surfer.  Letters page:  Defender's Dialogue.

COM:    Origin of Ghost Rider IV.  Ghost Rider stories begin.  1st mention of Alfie, Barton Blaze.  1st appearance of Crash Simpson Daredevil Cycle Show.  1st use of Hell-fire.  GR clashes with some local hoods and scares the socks off of them, then, at sunrise, he changes back to Johnny, who remembers back to how all this happened.  How his father died and he ended up with the Simpsons, and how Mona was killed and on her death bed made him promise to never ride in the show.  How, to maintain that pledge, he lost the respect of his benefactor and love, until she learned the truth.  Shortly there after, the show made the big time, only to have Crash diagnosed with cancer.  Johnny offers his soul to Satan to save him, and Mephisto strike a bargain with him.  Not knowing he was cured, Crash tries to go out in a blaze of glory, and dies trying to set the jumping record.  Johnny sets it (22 cars) alienating Rocky, but later, when Mephisto comes to collect, she saves him, but not until after he had bonded Zarathos to his soul.  Now, every time it gets dark, he changes into GR, and at story end, he's trying to figure out what to do.

COM:    Silver Surfer joins the team.  1st appearance of Calizuma's Warrior Wizards.  Trying to discover how the Surfer was mixed up with Necrodamus, Strange and Namor are looking for him and run into him in the Arctic.  Surfer doesn't know what they're talking about, and Namor's hot head has him come out swinging.  Surfer leaves them to return to his private valley, and the heroes, using notes in Ken Ward's diary, follow him to the Himalayas.  Here, in the Valley of the Undying Ones (named) they encounter the yeti creatures who are under his protection and confront him again.  He relates his alibi, how he came to the valley, only to find out that the creatures were simply a disguise for Calizuma and crew.  The four quadruple team the main bad guys and then quickly mop up the rest of his men.  At story end, Strange offers to help the Surfer find a way off the planet.

COM:    Alicia and Crystal only seen in flashback.  Ben seeking out the Mole Man in hopes of curing Alicia's blindness, uses the escape tube down to his domain from issue #90.  Johnny missing Crystal, encounters Collins, who now has a court order of eviction, and learns what Ben is up to.  Ben, in Subterranea, kills the Kraawl that he thinks is threatening Kala; she recounts the origin of the Netherworld and tells him that she is due to marry Mole Man.  FF follow Ben, who is captured by Moloid Subterraneans and, while strapped to an electric torture device, learns that the whole encounter was a set up.  Kala mentions the death of Baxu (Baxi), and Mole points that Tyrannus has been mesmerized and now serves as his lackey.  Mole also reveals his plot to flood the upper world with lava.  Ben frees himself, but the torture device also altered his outward appearance, so, a story end, the Ff attack what they think is an approaching monster.

COM:    1st appearance of Satan's Servants.  A motorcycle gang encounters GR, and, after being run off with Hell-fire, their new leader offers to let him join their gang and brings him back to their crash pad.  GR relates his origin just before Curly takes control over him, offers him up for sacrifice to his master, and is revealed to be his deceased step-father.  'Satan' strikes a deal that if Crash kills his daughter to leave GR open to him, he'd grant the man immortality.  Johnny returns home, but can't tell Rocky about what has happened, and that night Curly's gang tries to nab her.  GR stops them, all under the eyes of an adoring crowd and he becomes the show's new headliner.  At story end, Curly kidnaps his own daughter and is ready to do anything to complete his bargain with the master.

COM:    Moloid Subterraneans appearance.  FF attack Ben because his appearance has been changed by Mole Man, but Reed realizes the mistake, and the team converges on Mole's HQ.  Ff free the Rev. and are attacked by the Mole Man's Android.  Soon, the Mole has the team at bay, when Kala turns against him for the restored Tyrannus, and then he turns against both.  The Ff are freed by Mole; Tyrannus tries to escape in the Magma-Cruiser, but it's booby trapped.  Ben finds out that Mole can't cure Alicia's blindness.  Reed sabotages Mole's lava device, and they escape in the Fantasti-Car just before it blows up.  At story end, Mole left to remember the woman he loved...alone.  In the second feature:  a four page glossy paper pin-up section featuring Doctor Doom Mole man, Hulk, Sub-mariner, Silver Surfer, Galactus, the Frightful Four ( medusa, Wizard, Trapster, and Sandman), and the Inhumans (Black Bolt, Karnak, Crystal, Triton, and Gorgon).

COM:    After dealing with Calizuma (last ish), Strange suggests that Surfer tries traveling to another dimension to beat the barrier around Earth.  They end up in the realm of the Nameless One, and the combined power of Surfer and Strange allows hem to rescue Barbara who had been trapped there since IH #126.  They are attacked by a mystic tornado, and when they break free, they find images of Clea, Dorma, Jarella, and Shalla Bal in the trap, and worse yet, that the Nameless One has somehow joined with Barbara as her mate.  After a fierce battle, they manage to catch his foot in the trap, but, before leaving, Strange casts a spell to save the girl.  Unfortunately, because she was a willing participant in being the monster god's mate, the process shatters her mind.  Worse yet, when Strange, learning that they were now beyond the barrier, tries to return them to their dimension, they end up in the British Isles.  Feeling betrayed, the Surfer storms off at story end.
