Calizuma A
wizard loyal to the Unnamed One who was stationed in the Himalayas to protect
the Valley of the Undying Ones. It is doubtful that he is human, but it
isn't determined that he is one of the Undying Ones. His costume is red
and blue with a high collar and horns that gives him a Satanistic look. He
and his men posed as uncivilized yeti-like creatures, even being adopted by the
Silver Surfer as a pet project, until they were exposed by the appearance of the
Defenders. But while they were supposedly learning, they were in fact
manipulating the Surfer to eventually do their bidding, including dropping
Sub-Mariner from the sky to lure his team mates in into the clutches of
Necrodamus. The truth was revealed, but a quadruple team-up of heroes put
him down for the count.

After spending an undetermined amount of time posing as uncivilized man-apes in
the Himalayas, they came out of the closet when the Defenders came looking for
the Silver Surfer in connection with the recent attempt on Sub-Mariner's life by
Necrodamus. After the fall of their boss, they were taken down pretty

(Prophet of Galactus) A televangelist whose ministry was failing until
Galactus came to Earth posing as a god (to get around his pledge not to attack
the planet) and cast the world into anarchy by telling them that they should
ignore the laws of man and do what they pleased. Colton, eager for power,
hitched his wagon to the devourer's train, began preaching to the masses that
they should follow the dictates of Galactus, planning this to be the first
stepping stone to even greater power. But, when his sister, who opposed
what he'd been doing, was killed because of the callousness of Galactus,
his eyes were opened, and he began to speak publicly against his 'god'.
When, after the devourer was driven away and the people tried to set the Silver
Surfer up as a replacement, he was the only one present that understood what the
Surfer did to dissuade them was all an act, that he wasn't a power hungry
villain. REL: Brother of Elyna Candell.

Captain Marvel I
(Deceased) (Captain Mar-Vell,
'Dr. Walter Lawson') Formerly the Kree captain of the starship Helion, for
which he was the advanced scout to investigate the human race after the failure
of Ronan against the Fantastic Four to decide whether the human race should live
or die, posing as Dr. Walter Lawson, a scientist at the Cape.
As a Kree officer, he wore the armored, green and white, helmeted battle suit of
his people which afforded him increased strength and the ability to fly on top
of the added bodily protection. During his short stint with the humans,
particularly Carol Danvers, with whom he kindled a warm relationship, he
developed an appreciation for human life and emotion for which he was branded a
traitor by the Kree. As an outcast, he was granted extra powers by the being Zo
to exact revenge for the wrongs done him. Those powers include enhanced
strength (above what his battle suit provided) the ability to teleport himself
anywhere in the universe, and the ability to create life like illusions.
He soon found out that Zo was a sham created by Zarek and Ronan in a bid to
overthrow the Supreme Intelligence, and for his help in thwarting that attempt,
the SI granted him his own special battle suit, the red and black with the star
insignia on his chest. Upon returning to Earth, the radiation from the
Negatron Sphere explosion hurls him into the Negative Zone, and it is only
through a symbiotic relationship with Rick Jones using the Kree Nega-bands, that
he is able over come the radiation's effects by trading places with the youth.
Soon after, both were freed from the Negative Zone, and Marvel, being granted
cosmic awareness, became the guardian of the universe before his death by
radiation poisoning. Often allied with the Avengers.

(deceased) (clone of Miles Warren) A cadaverous creature whose merest
touch can reduce any organic material to dead ashes. He is telepathic and able to reduce his
density down to intangibility, allowing him to teleport at will, and because his
body is repelled by everything in nature, he is able in a macabre way to
levitate
in mid air. He has a pouch of red dust he uses as a weapon, that can be
used to cause anything from an outbreak of the Red Death to simply putting a foe
to sleep, and he has full knowledge of everything the original Mile Warren did
before his death, and so has a massive hate on for Spider-Man. He had been
created by the original Warren, but was unable to open his capsule when he was
ready due to his untimely death, and so for the next couple of months (years) he
gestated at the accelerated rate and eventually passed on as an old man, but the
fluid of the capsule kept him alive and altered him to his current state.
It was at this point he was discovered and released by Prof. Randy Vale, who,
with a promise to receive the powers of Spidey, became his willing servant as
the costumed villain, Darter, to gain revenge on the web slinger for the death
of Warren and Gwen Stacy. He applied to the Maggia with his plan to do
away with the thorn in their side and was rejected because of instability, so he
proceeded on his own trashing Peter Parker's apartment and attacking his friend
Hector (White Tiger) Ayala. He finally captured Spidey and using his blood
created a Spider-Amoeba to kill him, but the plan backfired and he was trapped
and killed by the creature and burned in the resultant fire.

Celestial Mind Control
(CMC) The cult began by Mr. Nebul/Nebulon in his attempt to realize what
he believed to be the seminal dream of the human race, to have all their worries
and cares washed away by making them realize that they are all a bunch of bozos
and to take control of their minds using a machine built by him and the
Ludberdites. After his first seminar in NYC was broken up by the
Defenders, he continued to spread the world and soon had followers all over the
globe and draws all sorts in with the promise of instant power. The
terrible thing is that Nebulon actually believes that what he's doing will prove
to be the salvation of the human race. The followers wear bozo masks and
wear various clothing all of the same red color, except for the cheerleaders who
wear orange sweaters with the letters B-O-Z-O emblazoned on the chest and short
red skirts. The whole concept came to a head after his movement had spread

eventually causing the fall of Atlantis and the biblical flood. On their
third visit 1000 years ago, they were greeted by the Eternals and Incans working
together in harmony, but confronted by the Pantheon of Gods disputing their
right to interfere. Their fourth visit was triggered by the dormant gene
surfacing and was to judge to worthiness of their completed experiment-meaning

long reside in his body. Centuries later, a mere husk of his former self,
he set up shop in an old southern plantation in the middle of nowhere and was
feeding off any souls that he could get his hands on. Ghost Rider IV fell

Clarke, Stuart (see:
Rampage I) A bitter small change businessman and one of the world's
greatest scientific minds who, as the owner of Clarke Futuristics, created the Rampage
armor, but, like everything else in his life, it fell short of such competitors
as Stark Industries. When his business tanked, instead of marketing the invention or using it for good, he began to
use the armor for crime in retaliation against society that had chewed him up in
the recession, figuring to rob only insured banks and to use the money to pay
off his creditors. But this enterprise was soon halted by the newly formed
Champions. Later, he, inside the armor, was turned into a walking bomb by the
Crimson Dynamo IV and directed at the Champions, which left him comatose and a
permanent paraplegic [CHM #8]. To get revenge on the super team, he took control of
Iceman (who had taken to visiting him in the hospital) and, dressing him in the
Rampage armor, started to extort money from Angel. The situation came to a
head when Spider-Man was added to the mix. Angel, unwilling to stop his
friend Bobby, even at the cost of his own life, wasn't willing to allow him to
hurt another. He short circuited the protective shield around Clarke's
chair causing a feedback that put him back into his coma. Bobby was saved

Curtis (see: the Lizard) A scientist from

accidentally turns him into the Lizard. Later, he gets a grant to continue his

the power of the Lizard into one of his reptilian test subjects creating the
Iguana [SSM #32]. Good
friend of Spider-Man. REL: Husband of Martha Connors. Father
of Billy Connors.
First appearance: ASM #6
Dr. Connor's Enervator
A device in the form of a glass booth that can siphon and redirect energies of
all forms in or out of subjects that are within the confines of the machine.
It was first used in an attempt to reverse the effects of the Kingpin's
Vita-Drain that had been used on Spider-Man, which wasn't wholly affective, and
had the side effect of changing Connors back into his reptile alter ego [ASM
#166]. Afterward, Connors brought the device with him to ESU and was using
it in an experiment with marine iguanas in an attempt to regenerate his missing
arm, but ended in forcing the change again with the result of creating the
creature, the Iguana. Peter Parker then restructured the device so that it
was portable and used it to redirect all the energy from the Lizard into the
Iguana, not only changing the creature back to its normal form but also cured
Connors of his curse [SSM #34]. Unfortunately, the portable version was
about as shielded as the full size version, and the leaking energy rays
gradually altered the physiology of Peter Parker and eventually changed him into
Spider-Lizard SSM #39].

Controller (Basil Sandhurst,
see: Hugo) A scientist who was reduced to almost helplessness due to
an accident caused by his brother, builds a powerful, armored exo-skeleton with
his guilt-ridden brother's aid. The armor is powered by drawing the mental
force from other living beings, siphoned with his Slave Discs, directed at first
through a separate Mental Wave Absorbatron, which had the flaw of needing to be
within a certain range to be effective, to a smaller portable one built into his
helmet. The more Discs he has working, the stronger he is, and if they are
applied to beings with powers, he also absorbs them. He also is able to
completely control his 'slaves' who have discs attached. REL:

and super-human powers from his victims and allow him to completely control
them. They are placed either to the forehead or the back of the neck, and
they attach themselves directly to the nervous system, making them very
difficult and dangerous to remove. C superceded the use of his Discs when
he made use of a woman with telepathic powers, allowing him to siphon mental
energy directly from his victims without the use of any outside devices.

the robot went out of control and nearly killed his own daughter in the process,

A manufacturing outfit similar to its strongest competitor, Stark Industries,
producing weapons and military paraphernalia by government contract. It
was very successful until SI started beating the pants off of them for
contracts, at which point, the mental state of its original founder and CEO,
Drexel Cord, began to wane in direct proportion to the downslide of the
business. As his final work, Cord produced the Demolisher robot to kill
Iron Man I, and, as a final act, his sanity returning in the last moments, he
gave his life to save that of his daughter. After his death, family
lawyer, Vincent Sandhurst, for his own personal gain, convinced Janice to sell
the company to Tony Stark, but after the lawyers motives were revealed
(siphoning money to serve his brother, the Controller), Stark convinced the girl
to reopen the plant with her at the reins. She did, hiring Alex Niven (Nevsky)
as her Head Scientist, who turns out was only using her and the plant to
manufacture on the sly his new suit of Crimson Dynamo armor based on the designs
of his old master, Anton Vanko, so that he too could get revenge on Stark.
After her death at the untimely hands of the Titanium Man, the company was
eventually absorbed by Stark Industries.

thrilling motorcycle stunt riding, featuring he and his whole family and the
star performer, Barton Blaze. When Barton was killed, Crash adopted his
son, Johnny and began showing him the ropes with the idea of eventually turning
the reins of the show over to him. However, an accident took the life of

mechanic for the show. Years later, Crash was diagnosed with terminal
cancer just before their big break at Madison Square Garden, and he went out in
a blaze of glory trying to break the motorcycle jumping record. After his
death, ownership of the show went to his daughter who ran things with her love,

draw as his alter ego, the Ghost Rider. However, because of his lack of
regularity in performing, the show fell on hard times and after the gig at the

were to collect the three defectors and bring them home, but they ran afoul of
Widow's new partners, the Champions. With the extra firepower of the
Dynamo, the three male members took on and bested the new super team, but things
fell apart when they tried to make contact with the sub waiting off the coast.
His manic behavior toward his father went around the bend to the point where
even his girl, Darkstar, turned against him. With his team captured and

the Cult as well. Killing the friend of Johnny Blaze, Harley Baggs and
attacking the family home of the senator were the last straw, and GR took the
Cult apart to rescue the girl and her brother and to get sweet revenge. In

quartz glasses. Usually the leader of the X-team he's currently a part of
(although he lost the leadership of the primary X-Men to Storm). Long time romance
with Jean Grey. Cyclops has always taken his abilities very seriously
because of the ease in which he could lose control over them, and he takes his
responsibility of his leadership an the realization of Prof. X's goals very
seriously both of which to the point that he has been labeled every from
antisocial to a sycophant of Xavier's vision. After years of being deputy
leader of the team, he contemplates leaving the fold with the rest of the old
roster following the events with Krakoa (which boosted his powers), but decides
to continue his work following Xavier's dream, even though it meant parting from
Jean for a while [UXM #94]. Their relationship picked up again shortly
thereafter when the team was dealing with the new Sentinels, during which Jean
was 'killed' and replaced by Phoenix II [UXM #101] and their relationship,
although different, continued at an accelerated rate until it was assumed that
she and Beast had died in the destruction of Magneto's Antarctic Base [UXM

eventually ended up in Japan, a short term relationship budded with Colleen Wing
