Red Rajah    (Stephen Strange, see:  Dr. Strange)  The incredibly powerful being created when the Star of Capistan takes possession of of a human host.  In this case, it was Dr. Strange, who was the friend of the keeper of the gem, Omar Karindu and was going to be consulted about the sentient ruby loosing control, when his unprepared mind was taken over.  The costume produced by the possession is red ancient middle Eastern themed garb with ornate golden plates protecting the legs, chest and around the neck.  His first act was to repel Rhino and Solarr (who had come to steal the jewel) from the room in the hotel where his metamorphosis took place, and his second act, combining its great power with that of the mage he began to seize control on NYC by taking over everyone's minds.  The mind control however only worked on certain people and it was undetermined why or how the others were unaffected.  As he prepared his final push to ultimate power by using the energy from the ensorcelled people to capture the minds of everyone else in the world, he was attacked by the female members of his team, the Defenders, and, although he pitted the raw power of the Hulk and Luke Cage against them, Clea was able to pierce the veil around the Doctor's submerged mind.  Together they battled the power of the Star, until Strange finally shrugged off its influence and immediately destroyed the Gem.
