HUNTERS: We are located in Maine's Wildlife Management Unit #23; and are only 1+ miles away
from the Carlton Bog wildlife refuge which is more than 1,000 acres of federally owned public lands & waters.
WILD TURKEY HUNTING: Fall is now open to hunting this most wily of game birds. Spring hunting is open, too. Sightings of large flocks in this area
are common the past few years. There are many hunting opportunities just moments from your front door.
BIRD HUNTING Upland game (ruffed grouse or pa'tridge & woodcock) from the 1st of October to -
December 31st.
DUCK HUNTING starts in October as well. Sebasticook Lake & River in
Newport offers multiple species and sea duck hunting is less than an hour’s drive to the coast. Let
us know if you are interested in a guided hunt.
DEER HUNTING Archery season begins in
October and open firearms season runs four weeks in November. The rut is in full swing for the
muzzleloading season during the first two weeks in December.
FISHERMEN: Fish for RAINBOW TROUT, LARGE MOUTH BASS, PICKEREL, WHITE & YELLOW PERCH right from your
waterfront dock or from the 16 foot Old Town Discovery canoe. If you wish to bring your
own motor boat, just down the shore is a private boat launch; which is available for a reasonable fee. Your motor boat must have a valid
Maine Milfoil Sticker. We have privately stocked Gray Pond with state approved Rainbow's. If you would prefer to
fish for Smallmouth Bass, the Penobscot River runs less than an hour's drive from here. Referral to Charlie
Bowe’s Penobscot River Guide Service available. A days fishing on the Penobscot with Charlie will almost guarantee
tired arms from reeling in many, many line stretching smallies.
ICE FISHING: It’s wonderful to watch your tip-ups right from the comfort of your living room. There is
easy access on & off the pond. Live bait is available at the Plymouth Village store.
BIRD WATCHERS: Listen to the cry of the nesting loons. A pair returns each year & usually brings out the babies for daily tours beginning mid-June. Bald Eagles & Osprey are common visitors to fish the clean waters. The bird feeders are full year round creating an abundance of nesting songbirds and hummingbirds to watch.
SNOWMOBILING is fabulous here. The volunteers of the Plymouth Snowmobile Club keep the local trails in great shape. We have access to the trail system right from the front door. No need to trailer. Park on your lawn & ride anywhere in the state.
ATV RIDING is also great in this area. Winter travel with your ATV on the ice of frozen Gray Pond is generally safe after January 1st. Though some of the snowmobile trails are off limits to ATV's, there are many old tote roads & discontinued town roads in the area for some excellent riding opportunities. Only a mile or two away, the Carlton Bog wildlife refuge is federally owned land. It's 1000+ acres offer unrestricted access. It is some great undeveloped land to explore. All Terrrain Vehicles are a great way to get to this back country wilderness. We can point you in the right direction for some awesome riding.
LEAF PEEPING: Would you like to tour Central Maine to see the most lush fall colors in the country? Are you interested in leef-peeping and long drives in the country, stops by little antique shops and local farm stands? Do you want to drive along the rocky coast line to see the see the hedges littered with rose hips and feel fall on the ocean breeze? Then this is the area for you! Use this lovely lakefront log house as your home base and watch the leaves change colors over the water, while drinking your morning coffee on the screened porch.
